The Hoist & Winch business unit at Collins Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Functional Lead/Project Engineer. The ideal candidate will have experience managing assigned project(s) and oversee all aspects of a project from defining requirements to evaluating project deliverables. The functional lead will be the primary point of contact for the Engineering Program Chief and will work closely with the Value Stream Leader (VSL) to assure the assigned project remains on budget and schedule. This position will be in a multi-disciplinary team environment and will need to be able to thrive on tackling challenges, as the position requires the use of problem-solving skills in a hands-on work environment to address problems and implement appropriate design or process changes.
What You Will Do:
Drive the team to complete all technical scope assigned to them on a project
Keep the team within schedule and budget
Communicate issues, risks, dependencies to the other discipline Leads and Program Chiefs
Work with the Program Chiefs to be a technical focal and point of contact for other teams
Report monthly Earned value status, Risk/Opportunities, prepare Technical Program Reviews (TPR’s)
Plan and update monthly sprints
Run team Stand-up and Focus of the Week meetings
The functional leads primary responsibility is that of meeting program expectations. The functional lead should give priority to the key areas and cadences FIRST before any technical work or responsibilities.
What You Will Learn:
Agile project management techniques
Better understanding of capabilities and requirements of aircraft rescue hoist
Plan, manage, and status project on regular cadence
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

Experience in the areas of Earned Value Management (EVM), Cost Account Management (CAM), Change Management, and Risk Management (RM).
Qualifications We Prefer:
Aerospace experience working with rotary and fixed wing electromechanical flight hardware a plus
Working knowledge of and experience in Teamcenter, JIRA, and Polarion
A strong communicator with others, both written and verbal
Demonstrate self-starter personality traits as well as the ability to work autonomously

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
