JOB SPECIFICATION
TOSA- CATEGORICAL PROGRAM
THE POSITION
The TOSA, CP is assigned to work with principals, teachers, other staff and parents at all schools to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the program for academic progress of categorical aid program funded students.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Special Programs
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The responsibilities listed are typical, but not exclusive:
Program Development
- Facilitate curriculum development and implementation.
- Develop, review and revise program plans and procedures.
- Implement assigned program responsibilities.
- Review and recommend instructional materials.
Staff Development
- Conduct professional development activities for classroom teachers and other staff working with identified students.
- Model effective instructional strategies, including strategies for special needs students.
- Provide classroom training, consulting, observation/feedback and other assistance to site staff.
Parent Education
- Explain and interpret programs to parents.
- Design involvement opportunities for parents, including required parent meetings and committees.
- Conduct professional development activities for parents.
Assessment/Evaluation
- Coordinate required assessments for student program placement, progress and reclassification consistent with the District plan.
- Facilitate site program evaluation and required federal and state reviews.
- Prepare state and local plans and reports.
Management/Leadership Responsibilities
- Facilitate communication between federal, state and county agencies with the District.
- Cooperate with other categorical aid funded personnel to develop and implement a coordinated program.
- Provide program information and guidance to site and District office administrators and to the Governing Board.
- Practice and model effective management principles.
MAJOR DUTIES

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE:
- Three or more years of classroom teaching.
- Valid California State Teaching Credential with CLAD, BCLAD, or equivalent preferred.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Significant education and experience in categorical aid program implementation.
WORK YEAR: 185 Days
