Requirements / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
-3-5 years of experience working with students ages 11-14 years old in educational or youth recreation program settings
-AA or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Youth/Adolescent Development, or a related field. BA preferred.
-Working knowledge or the ability to learn district-adopted software: Google Suite software, Google Hangout, Google Meet and/or Zoom, etc.
-CPR and First Aid Certified
-Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
-Must be in good health, able to lift 30 lbs. chest high, and pass a physical exam
-Must be able to walk, squat, bend, and stand; ability to move freely to supervise and engage in indoor and outdoor activities with children.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
-Plan and prepare a safe and nurturing learning environment that supports the developmental, social-emotional, and physical needs of all students.
-Lead program activities and projects with intentionality and linked to 21st-century skills (creativity, critical thinking, and information and communication technology).
-Create a classroom environment that helps young people develop positive relationships with peers and adults. Use Positive Discipline in classroom management techniques.
-Create a program culture and environment that supports and embraces diversity, access, and equity.
-Ensure the health and safety needs of the children are met and issues are dealt with immediately and appropriately.
-Create an exciting and enriched environment connected to curriculum and quality learning experiences.
-Supervise students indoors and outdoors within well-defined boundaries to ensure the safety of all students at all times.
-Knowledge and experience with Project Based Learning, STEAM, and creating developmentally appropriate curriculum.
-Provide excellent customer service for families, school, community, and each other.
-Communicate regularly with parents to support, guide, and share in their child’s development.
-Ability to supervise, coach, and mentor teachers in curriculum development, classroom management, and parent/family partnerships.
-Ability to work collaboratively by practicing workplace values, flexibility, and being a team player.
-Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with the school community.
