Senior Corporate Counsel - Sales & Business Operations, Americas
San Mateo, CA (hybrid) - will require coming into office 2x a week*
Role overview:
Sony Interactive Entertainment has a unique opportunity to provide legal support for Channel Sales, Digital Distribution and Business Operations across North and South America. This Senior Corporate Counsel position will provide legal advice and support to SIE's channel sales teams in North and South America, including our offices in Brazil and Mexico, on a wide range of commercial matters across these regions. In addition, this Senior Corporate Counsel will provide legal support to business teams responsible for digital distribution of PlayStation video games on third-party distribution services, navigating the complex legal landscape of digital video game distribution, including compliance, negotiation, and management on strategy distribution partners.
What you'll be doing:
Provide transactional support and counseling to a broad range of SIE business functions in the Americas, including:
- Draft and negotiate commercial contracts for SIE's business operations and channel sales teams and its subsidiary in Brazil.
- Provide general legal advice on business and commercial activities, including day-to-day business operations, channel sales, distribution, and vendor engagement.
- Issues related to the distribution of PlayStation video games on third-party digital services, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and distribution service policies.
- Ensuring that SIE’s digital distribution activities through third-party services are compliant with laws and regulations, working closely with legal subject matter experts in intellectual property, privacy, tax, online safety, fraud and copyright and trademark laws.
- Collaborate closely with legal subject matter experts on channel sales and business operations in areas such as customs, export regulations, product safety & compliance, marketing, advertising, consumer services, ecommerce, payments, litigation, compliance, employment, international tax, privacy and IP enforcement.
Required Experience/Education:
- A minimum of 12 years of experience, with at least 3 years working in-house and 5 years' experience in commercial transactions.
- JD or LLM degree from top law school; CA bar membership preferred. At a minimum, the candidate must be qualified for and quickly acquire a Registered In-House Counsel status in California and the willingness to maintain that status during employment.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Extensive commercial transactional experience
- Capabilities to advise the business on a broad range of legal matters
- Experience overseeing and managing outside counsel
- Budget management experience
- Excellent communication skills, follow-through, and attention to detail
- Spanish or Portuguese language skills are strongly preferred!
- General litigation experience, a plus!

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
