Job Responsibilities

• Lab supply and animal ordering: using the Penn online ordering system for supplies and animals, generate purchase orders, inventory items; training will be provided on all systems.

• Chemical maintenance: serve as CISPro chemical inventory manager; order chemical barcodes when new chemicals are added (weekly to monthly); confirm storage of chemicals is compliant.

• Equipment maintenance: notify supervisor of defects in equipment function, schedule routine equipment maintenance with suppliers, clean surfaces of equipment monthly

• Submit animal protocol amendments

• Maintain mouse breeding colony: occasionally purchase mice for breeding and set up breeding pairs, monitor breeding daily, wean pups monthly; training on breeding colony maintenance

• Maintain logs and inventory of viral vectors for use in the lab

• Perform stereotaxic surgery

• Perform mouse dissections

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Prior wet lab research experience preferred. Animals with experience in rodent laboratory research will be prioritized.
