The Functional and Metabolic Imaging Group (FMIG) in the Department of Radiology utilizes its extensive expertise in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Engineering to conduct preclinical and clinical research focused on the use of advanced imaging techniques to diagnose, treat, and monitor various pulmonary disorders, including COPD and lung cancer, as well as for the study of lung transplantation.
For this particular position, the successful candidate will assist the research coordinator, graduate students, postdocs, and faculty with the performance of both clinical and preclinical imaging studies. More specifically, for clinical studies, the candidate will directly assist the research coordinator and investigators in image acquisition, data safety and SOP operations of studies under IND. The Research Specialist B will also be involved in data collection, documentation, and development of computational tools to visualize, analyze, and interpret various imaging and non-imaging datasets.
For preclinical studies, the Research Specialist B will assist graduate students, postdocs and faculty with animal handling, running the small animal CT and MRI scanners, data collection / study documentation, data analysis, and maintaining laboratory space in accordance with all relevant university protocols.
Finally, the preferred candidate for this role will also be capable of assuming additional responsibilities such as creating relevant figures, performing statistical analyses, contributing to manuscripts and grant proposals, and assisting with patient recruitment efforts as needed.
