Pay Rate $34.78
Under general supervision, works at journey level performing duties associated with voltages above 600 volts. Must be familiar with safe working practices and requirements for Phasing and Hot Glove work on energized 12.47 kv systems and above. Will repair, troubleshoot, maintain, and/or replace electrical controls, motors, switches, general street and security lighting, transformers, relays, breakers, and associated overhead/underground distribution manuals for maintenance of oil and air circuit breakers and AC/DC power supply and control systems. Must be willing to work holidays, weekends, and perform shift work. May perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must have at least one of the following
- Completed a High Voltage Apprenticeship Program such as that offered by Jacksonville Electric Authority
- Verifiable work history while performing journey level work on High voltage generation and distribution systems of 12.47 kv and above for a minimum of two years.
- Must be familiar and knowledgeable with various types of electrical test equipment in the performance of routine maintenance/repair of associated High Voltage transmission and distribution equipment.
- Must be capable of performing safe Hot Glove work on all energized systems as required.
- Must have knowledge of switches, transformers, and their hookups.
- Will be required to work at various heights, include from a bucket truck.
- Must be CPR certified.
- Must possess the standard tools of the trade.
- Must be able to obtain a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) within 90 days of employment.
- Must have and wear at all times, hard-toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standard.
- Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
