JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, this leader creates a vision and strategy focused on ensuring all students have the support needed to focus on learning in the classroom. Services provided by this team will support all divisions and campuses across the district. This includes overseeing the Wrap Around services department, including oversight of Wrap Around Specialists on campuses to ensure all kids have basic needs met. This also includes supporting Health and Medical services on campuses, providing support for high quality Counseling programs, and supporting Crisis Management across the district. This role promotes a streamlined approach to ensuring that the non-academic and social-emotional needs of students are being met to maximize academic student outcomes and reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and oversee a cohesive vision and strategy to ensure all students have the support needed to focus on learning in the classroom. This includes ensuring a cohesive set of services and support is provided to divisions and campuses, customized to specific needs of those students.
Lead, monitor and tracks ongoing Wraparound Supports and collaborates with stakeholders to evaluate program success. Ensures the development and management of partnerships with local services providers and oversees the implementation of processes to connect students to needed services.
Ensure the effectiveness of health and medical programming that their interventions yield tangible results in improving the overall health and well-being of students.
Lead in the collaboration and programming support to principals and staff in the areas of academic counseling in support of post-secondary readiness. Ensure effective implementation and monitoring of character education, and social skills programs.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED
Lead in the collaborate and provide thought partnership to district and school leaders on evidence-based strategies that enable positive school climate and culture, increase student attendance, enhance social-emotional development, and ensure the health and basic needs of students are being met. Ensuring the effectiveness of the crisis intervention (CIT) and providing state mandated trauma informed training.
Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing service-oriented team dedicated to ensuring all students have the supports needed to focus on learning in the classroom; ensure teams and individuals have clearly defined goals, develop systems to track performance and regularly improve program delivery based on data and user needs .

EDUCATION
Master’s Degree in education, counseling, student affairs, or a related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years of experience Extensive experience in leadership positions within a school system or educational organization.
SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION
Microsoft Office Office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)
LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs two or more levels of management in the development, deployment and ongoing management of key initiatives covering multiple major disciplines with direct accountability for results in terms of effectiveness, costs, methods, and employees. Establishes operational objectives and assignments for multiple disciplines/functional areas and possibly departments. Evaluates recommendations of others, deciding on course of action in ambiguous situations, and oversees the deployment of innovative solutions. Collaborates with senior leadership to develop strategies and broad departmental objectives; establishes methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people in the achievement of strategic objectives.

Work is non-standardized and widely varied, involving many complex and significant variables including significant time spent planning, evaluating complex solutions and issues, and negotiating outcomes. Regularly assesses and diffuses complex, and escalated customer issues. Takes personal responsibility and accountability for solving systemic customer service problems. Regularly explores alternative and creative solutions to meeting the needs of the customer within HISD's policies and guidelines.
WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. Ability to carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds.
