EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for Satellite Communication Networks R&D Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position is located in our Germantown, MD office.

Job Responsibilities:

• As a research and development engineer, develop cutting-edge technologies to improve the performance of Hughes’ satellite communication networks.
• Perform algorithm design to analyze traffic pattern, categorize data packets through the satellite system, and estimate the quality of the communication service.
• Analyze performance of satellite networks by performing data collection of the packet-level traffic at large networking scales, estimate the real-time traffic features, quantify key metrics of the system performance, and infer the network status based on the collected data.
• Apply new network protocols, apply data analysis and machine learning techniques, and collaborate with other engineering groups to deploy the developed techniques on Hughes broadband satellite platforms.

Basic Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or a closely related field plus 6 months’ experience in wireless communication networks OR Bachelor’s degree in in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or a closely related field plus 5 years’ experience in wireless communication networks.
• Experience must include 6 months in each of the following: networking protocols; TCP/IP; LAN/WAN; Algorithm design; System-level optimization; Data analysis; and Machine learning.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
