Job Abstract

Join Cottage Health as a Professional Services Coder II. The Professional Services Coder II Enters and validates professional charges for Cottage Urgent Care locations, and enters and validates professional office visit charges for Cottage professional MD services. Evaluates medical records, completes clinical data abstraction and assigns appropriate clinical diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with nationally recognized coding guidelines for reporting and billing of physician and allied health services.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

Minimum: Formalized education that provides knowledge and experience in the following areas: 1) Assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT coding classifications; 2) Medical terminology, anatomy, chemistry, pharmacology, physiology, and disease process 3) medical record keeping principles and practices

Preferred: Associates Degree Health Information Management

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Minimum: Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC, or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from AHIMA.

Preferred: Certified Professional Coder-Apprentice (CPC-A) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from AAPC, or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P) from AHIMA.

YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum: 6 months of coding experience in a professional clinic environment

Preferred: 1 year of experience coding for professional services
