Requirements / Qualifications
DEFINITION
Under direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, performs general and varied grounds maintenance and gardening work; performs other related tasks as assigned and/or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of: Basic methods, materials, tools and terminology used in grounds maintenance and gardening work; safe working methods and procedures.
Ability to: Effectively use hand and power tools common to grounds maintenance work; perform heavy manual functions and activities; operate light grounds maintenance equipment; understand and follow oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Experience: One year of paid experience in grounds maintenance or gardening work.
Education: Verification of a High School diploma, a GED certificate, or a higher degree is required at time of employment.
License Requirement: Verification of the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
Condition of Employment: Insurability by the District's liability insurance carrier. Finalists scheduled for an interview must provide a current DMV printout (not more than 30 days old) prior to the interview.

Individuals who have completed course work at an institution in a country other than the United States must obtain a complete evaluation of foreign transcripts/degrees, prior to applying for a position, and attach a copy to the application electronically. The foreign transcripts must be evaluated by one of the approved organizations, listed on the Rialto Unified School District website, in order to be accepted. These organizations are private enterprises who charge a fee for their services. Individuals pursuing a foreign transcript evaluation must follow the procedures outlined by the organization providing the evaluation. In all instances, original, official documentation will be required when requesting the evaluation.
