WHO WE ARE Within Lockheed Martin Rotary Mission Systems (RMS), we are seeking a motivated and experienced Systems Integration and Test Engineer to support RMS 5G/NextG programs including the Open Systems Interoperable and Reconfigurable Infrastructure Solution (OSIRIS) program. OSIRIS is a high-profile 5G program delivering deployable 5G solutions to the DoD. OSIRIS is one project within the RMS 5G/NextG campaign. The RMS 5G/NextG campaign is leveraging Lockheed Martin’s 5G.mil® technology for insertion for RMS Contracted Research and Development (CRAD) programs and key captures. THE WORK As a I&T Engineer you will be supporting the development and integration of the OSIRIS 5G solution. Our 5G solutions adapt the Open Radio Access Network (ORAN) architecture. Critical to its success is the integration of multi-vendor components fundamental to ORAN. The I&T engineer’s job is to integrate the piece parts of the system to ensure connection and communication. On a day to day basis you will be working within an ORAN 5G architecture environment. Your responsibilities will include: • Working within a LINUX operating system environment so knowledge of LINUX is critical. • Performing file system navigation, modifying files via CLI using VIM or nano. • Collecting information about the system using CLI networking tools and performing environment management. • Networking including Proxy management, switch configuration and cable management. • Scripting including reading, modifying and analyzing existing scripts, creating startup scripts and bunding high level scripts.
That is where you come in: Your knowledge of Linux is essential as you’ll be operating in a Linux operating system. You’ll be doing file system navigation, modifying files via CLI using VIM or nano, collecting information about the system using Linus CLI networking tools and performing environment management. Building this system will require knowledge of networking, for example Proxy management, Switch configuration, Cable management/organization. Having some experience in this area will set up for success in this role. Your scripting experience will allow you to understand existing scripts, creating startup scripts and bundling high level scripts. WHO YOU ARE This role is best suited for engineers who are interested in working on technology that is brand new to the DEFENSE and Aerospace industry. People who are able to work through dependencies, tackle critical issues quickly, and jump in wherever the team has a need, even if it may not be the typical I&T responsibilities. Being a team player who is willing to learn new technologies will allow you to thrive in this role. ORAN 5G architecture has the potential to revolutionize the industries however it is currently in it’s infancy stages. Unlike many other positions here at Lockheed Martin, which involve work with proven already designed systems, much of this job will require someone who each day ready and willing to learn something new. In addition, it will require someone who is able to quickly adapt and change direction should the circumstances warrant it. Working in a research and development environment can be extremely rewarding but also challenging. There is the ability to make this a big future success. In order to do this, each person must have entrepreneurial mindset knowing that their work will form the foundation for decades to come. • Experience with system level hardware and software integration • Experience managing a Network architecture • Experience with software compiling and runtime • Familiarity with SW configuration management (e.g., XML) • Familiar with concepts of Single Root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV), physical functions, and virtual functions • RF Radio integration experience • Baseband network configuration • Familiarly with the Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) • Ability to effectively troubleshoot L1 through L3 of the OSI model • Comfortable in Linux OS Command Line Interface • Experience writing scripts • Knowledge in some areas of networking such as Proxy management, Switch configuration, Cable management/organization
