Job Description
WWSI Telemundo in Philadelphia seeks a news writer with exceptional writing abilities and strong communication skills to be part of the editorial team.
Responsibilities:
Craft copy and write news, segments, introductions for Telemundo newscasts and all platforms.
Translate news, press releases and general content from English to Spanish into a news format that is compelling and easy to understand.
Work closely with content producers, digital content producers, anchors, and reporters on writing elements.
Exercise unbiased judgment following news editorial standards, policies, and style.
Understand newscast mission, station priorities and all the platforms including digital and streaming.
Knowledgeable on daily news events, awareness of past news events and know what is news in the Philadelphia market.
Desk-top editing of video and graphics for stories.
Respond to breaking news with urgency and accuracy.
Contribute story ideas, participate in daily coverage discussions and editorial meetings.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in Spanish and must be able to speak, read and understand English.
At least 2 years of television, media publication or digital writing experience.
Degree in Journalism or Mass Communications, or significant related experience.
Excellent news judgment, creative ideas and writing skills.
Ability to write sharp, active, straightforward news reports.
Ability to respond rapidly and effectively to deadlines and breaking news.
This position requires to be in-person in the newsroom.
Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to handle intense deadline pressure.
