Job Summary:
Performs patient examinations and related activities; performs patient exams in accordance with established protocols; demonstrates knowledge of digital environment; reviews images prior to archiving to PACS and for submission to radiologists for interpretation; maintains patient records; assures the correct patient is being imaged in accordance to hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing the examination, and patient's clinical history is complete; completes associated paperwork, performs QA/QC on equipment, as needed. Stocks exam rooms with basic supplies start IVs and/or administers contrast, as needed, maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques, and provides a clean environment within the examination area. Provide student technologists with the basic procedural concepts within a responsible modality. Share emergency calls as required. Demonstrates appropriate computer skills. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice. Works under the direct supervision of the Radiology Supervisor and/or Registered Radiologic Technologists.
Performance expectations:
- Possesses the ability to assist with procedures in the Endoscopy Lab.
- Exhibits a working knowledge of radiation safety practices and appropriate protective safety devices, as applicable.
- Possesses the ability to perform the duties required in Pre-Evaluation Room.
- Exhibits a working knowledge of PACS equipment and operation.
- Ability to use Diagnostic Room 1 and 2, to produce quality radiographs for interpretation by Radiologists.
- Uses portable radiographic equipment to produce quality portable radiographs.
- Exhibits appropriate patient care skills, such as body mechanics, familiarity with code cart, IV maintenance, and maintaining a safe environment.
- Ability to assist with procedures in the OR and CT with the use of proper equipment.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Pending graduate of an approved AMA school of radiologic technology required.
Work Experience:
Must be a senior student in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required through an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
