THE COLLEGE AND THE DISTRICT:

Under the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor or Director of Budget and Accounting, the Accounting Assistant IV provides a full range of accounting services. The primary duties include accounting, audit, and special project functions for multiple entities of the district e.g., financial aid, bookstore, cafeteria, foundation, student fees, Student Government Association (SGA), construction and deferred maintenance and other categorical program accounts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- An Associate's degree (*attach transcript); AND
- Nine (9) semester units of college-level, general accounting, business, finance, or equivalent course work (*attach transcript); AND
- Two (2) years of professional experience in keeping or reviewing accounting or fiscal records; AND
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff

SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitutions for meeting the minimum qualifications of this position are allowed, as follows:- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, OR Business Administration with an accounting concentration, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field OR
- High school diploma or GED AND five (5) years of professional experience in keeping or reviewing accounting or fiscal records

Environment
Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may travel from site to site and may interact with staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
Physical
This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Primary function requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and travel from site to site; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds, including push and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movements and fine coordination; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle and to visit various College and meeting sites.
Vision
See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.
Hearing
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
***This recruitment is an OUT-OF-CLASS, temporary assignment which requires additional information in order for applicants to successfully apply. ***
Depending on your current salary, compensation is either Step 1 of the Out-of-Class assignment (Level 22) or a 9% increase to your current salary - whichever amount is greater to the employee.
The position serves District-Wide; applicants may be assigned to any District facility. Work hours are subject to change depending on department needs. Additional openings that become available prior to the end of the hiring process may also be filled from the qualified applicants.
