Position description
UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences, in conjunction with the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior (a multi-disciplinary neuroscience research center), seeks a full-time project scientist, at the Assistant rank, to participate in management and development of clinical pharmacology projects involving brain imaging. Applicants must have a demonstrated record of excellence and academic research experience data analytic skill that focuses on interventions for substance use disorders as well as brain imaging. Responsibilities for the position will combine involvement in design and performance of calcium imaging experiments (hippocampal or inputs/outputs from the region) before, during and after mating. Chemogenetic or optogenetic manipulations of hippocampal neurons or their inputs and analysis of effects on behavior. Preferred candidates will have established technical, management, and training skills centered around neuroimaging in human research.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D in neuroscience, psychology, pharmacology, or other relevant fields; and qualify for an assistant-level project scientist appointment at UCLA. An established record of publication and demonstrated ability to oversee regulatory aspects of a clinical trial is required. Evidence of leadership ability and postdoctoral training will be considered as added qualifications.
