Position Description
The Building Maintenance Worker performs general building service duties including; installations, troubleshooting, and minor repairs involving general electrical equipment including appliances; painting and drywall repair, carpentry work, flooring, and ceiling tile replacement; minor plumbing repairs to fixtures and drain lines; upkeep of property grounds; furniture moves and installations; minor roof repair; and reporting and follow up when assistance is required from Harris County Facilities & Property Management or contractors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides backup to the Facilities Manager and Stockroom / Mail Clerk.
Performs periodic inspections, minor repair, and maintenance projects on a broad spectrum of disciplines, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, roof, furniture, grounds keeping, etc.
Performs weekly Fire Pump Test and Chiller system inspection.
Works with HC Facilities and Property Management to request services, monitor services, and approve work performed.
To meet the needs of CAC staff and partners, triage CAC Help Desk requests to determine level and area of expertise needed (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Cleaning, etc.).
Assists with office furniture moves, conference furniture relocation set up and furniture and installations, including support for the Training Center.
Supports the Facilities Manager in ensuring the building’s safe operations and that it is in compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Fully participates on CPR/AED, Fire Warden, and Active shooter training.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Two years Facilities and office services support required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Candidate must have general knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, basic electric, fire suppression systems, carpentry, and painting.
Must have the ability to use and maintain proper operations of tools and equipment and troubleshoot maintenance problems.
Candidate must be able to climb stairs/ladders and must be able to frequently stand and walk for long periods of time.
Candidate must have an understanding of Online Web-control system.
Two years Facilities and office services support.
This position is generally in a medium work role but may, at times, require the ability to exert force up to 50 pounds; and/or additionally up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Preferences
10 hour OSHA Certification preferred.
