Responsibilities and Duties
USC’s Randall R. Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute and the Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management within the Marshall School of Business is seeking a global supply chain management Associate Director, Research.
The candidate will work directly with the executive director. This role is responsible for researching, benchmarking, writing, identifying, developing literature reviews, case studies, blogs, white-papers, proposals, and other projects. The position will also support the research area of the Institute and will be a vital addition to help secure funding through research and grants opportunities.
- This role will plan, design, and conduct technical and complex research projects independently and in consultation with supervisor.
- The candidate will contribute to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards, analyze data, and provide interpretations.
- Lead efforts to secure institutional grants by identifying new sources.
- Candidates should have experience in copyright, content writing, research and/or technical writing of research, grants, technical reports, white papers, blogs, case studies, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
- Proofread/revise, writing/editing documents.
- Create content for blogs, case studies, brochures, newsletters, potential website content, research proposals, white papers, scientific abstracts, manuscripts, technical reports, task responses, slide presentations, and graphics.
- Complete other assignments
Preferred Qualifications
- Candidates should have 5 years of experience in research and/or technical writing and editing of research proposals or grants, technical reports, white papers, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.
- Must possess: the ability to work independently, as well as in teams; attention to detail; excellent organizational skills; ability to achieve set goals; initiative in performing assigned tasks; ability to multi-task and ability to interact and communicate professionally with all levels of personnel in and outside of the organization.
- Must be able to listen and develop information into research proposals, translate ideas into coherently written text.
- Directly related program management experience
- Ability to manage sponsored projects and fundraisers.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Master’s Degree in English, Communications, Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Master’s Degree in English, Communications, Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum Experience: 3 years combined experience/education as a substitute education
- Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures, analysis methods, principles, theories and concepts.

Anticipated Hiring Range
The salary range for this position is $72,732.18 - $81,168.54 - $91,557.81. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
