We seek a Principal Civil Engineer - Water and a Senior Civil Engineer to join our crew and chart the course in Water Engineering for our Public Works Department.

Employment Guidelines
Education & Experience:
Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is considered qualifying. A typical way to obtain the necessary qualifications is as follows:
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
AND
Senior Civil Engineer:
Four years of progressively responsible water engineering experience.
Principal Civil Engineer - Water:
At least six years of recent, increasingly responsible professional water engineering experience, including three years of administrative and supervisory responsibility in a professional engineering organization.

Special Requirements Include:
Licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate City needs.
Valid Class C California driver's license and acceptable driving record at the time of appointment and throughout employment in this position. Employees in this classification will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles Government Employer Pull Notice Program.
The City of Fullerton’s Conflict of Interest Code requires that the Principal Civil Engineer - Water and the Senior Civil Engineer file financial disclosure statements in accordance with state and local laws.
California Government Code §3100 – 3109 requires that all public employees are to be declared disaster service workers and shall take and subscribe to the related oath or affirmation as required.

The City reserves the right to revise any portion of the examination process. Candidates will be notified of any changes before a related examination step.
Candidates who successfully complete the assessment process for Principal Civil Engineer - Water or Senior Civil Engineer will be placed on an eligible list for these classifications, which will remain in effect for at least one year or until an insufficient number of candidates remain on the list.
Current City of Fullerton employees may be given preference during the testing and/or selection process.
Appointment:
All employment offers, including appointment offers to City of Fullerton employees, are conditional based upon the successful completion of a background and medical examination performed by the City's designated physician, at City expense. Medical exams are administered to assess an individual's ability to perform the physical requirements of this position. In addition, City of Fullerton employees who are appointed to safety-sensitive classifications and all new hires will undergo a drug screen.
All new hires will be fingerprinted. Fingerprints are verified by the State of California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
An appointee will serve a 6-month probationary period.
