Job Summary:
The DC Operations Manager is responsible for directing and managing the inbound and outbound departments of the distribution center, inclusive of Automation, non-Automation, VAS, Pick & Pack, and E-commerce operations in accordance with company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include engaging the teams with the tools needed for success while driving improvements in productivity and efficiency in a fast-paced warehouse environment; play a key role in maintaining upper management informed of all operational activities.
Essential Functions (Including but not limited to):
· Manage and give active daily guidance and provide direction to the Associates in a fast paced and physically demanding large warehouse environment of 200 or more associates.
· Oversees and directs 3-5 exempt level Supervisors, as well as 100-250 nonexempt hourly employees.
· Monitors and ensures shift key performance indicators (KPI’s) are met in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure the profitability and productivity of the DC.
· Build and execute productivity plans through forecast reviews, determining productivity requirements and partnering with other leaders to load balance.
· Identifies and implements actions to improve DC productivity and reduce expense.
· Identifies priority of trailer unloads to maximize efficiency and ensure detention fees are not assessed.
· Optimizes staffing by area to maximize efficiency and reduce cost.
· Provides training, sets performance goals and prepares and provides performance appraisals to all direct reports.
· Plan and organize work assignments. Monitor and control departmental expenses including overtime to meet or exceed financial plan.
· Responsible for implementation of all company policies, procedures, and employee safety.
· Initiate, conduct and seek appropriate approvals involving disciplinary action up to and including terminations of employees within assigned areas.
· Collaborates with all support departments including Engineering, Inventory Control and Human Resources.
· Manage departmental communications with other Operations Departments to ensure coordination of efforts.
· Use discretion and independent judgment while maintaining the integrity of our Mission, Vision and Values statement in making all business decisions.
· Ensure all safety programs and requirements are met, holding the organization to the highest standards of safety and compliance.
· Perform any other duties as assigned in support of the company needs and operations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
· A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field and/or 5+ years of 3PL, warehouse.
· Must have 3+ years in a previous Operations Manager role or 5 years of supervisory experience within a Distribution Center strongly preferred.
· Exceptional leadership expertise and demonstrated track record of creating employee engagement, hiring, retaining, developing staff, and resolving interpersonal conflicts and nurturing teamwork among the teams.
· Previous Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Microsoft Office suite knowledge and ability required.
· Experience leading and managing a team of salaried employees and indirect employees.
· Track record of meeting or exceeding department performance goals.
· Excellent customer service skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to perform physical activity at a sustained pace including walking, bending, and lifting within a Distribution Center environment required.
