The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking an experienced IT TELECOM SUPPORT SUPERVISOR as a lead member of the network group for the Information Technology Services Division of the Prince George's County, Department of Parks and Recreation. This team is responsible for the support, maintenance, and optimization of the network. Under the direction of management, they provide network maintenance and support, perform installations and configurations, identify, and resolve outages, conduct upgrades, updates and expansions, document configurations, procedures, and process, monitor and optimize performance.
Examples of Important Duties
Under the direction of the IT Systems Manager of the Network & Security unit, manages the day-to day operations of the network.
Management and supervision of full-time staff members including performance evaluations, time and attendance tracking and scheduling coordination.
Responsible for circuits (adds, changes, deletes) with department service providers (Comcast, Verizon, I-net). Follows up to ensure appropriate billing for any adds, changes, or deletes and updates internal systems as required.
Responsible for the administration, support, maintenance and monitoring of network services and protocols (IP management, Name Resolution, Certificate Authority, VPN, etc.)
Responsible for the physical infrastructure of the department's networking (cable and rack installation, network box security, etc.)
Responsible for the network team projects, documentation, goals, timelines, and provides status reports as necessary.
Deliver effective and efficient service through the adherence to standards, contingencies and documentation.
Demonstrate strong customer service skills.
Communicates routinely with vendors to secure solutions and materials.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending trainings; reviewing professional resources; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state of the-art practices; participating in professional organizations.
Effectively communicate to a variety of stakeholders in both verbal and written formats.
Desirable Experience:
Experience with Cisco, Meraki, Microsoft Azure, Palo Alto
Robust troubleshooting skills
Strong writing skills and oral presentation ability.
Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or any related field.
Five (5) years of experience in information technology support functions.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total seven (7) years.
Depending upon area of assignment, a valid driver’s license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver’s license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee’s ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required by the position of assignment.
Pass Commission medical examination.
