About the Position: The College of Health and Human Development strives to prepare students to thrive in a globalized era in their chosen field. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Human Resource Specialist, Dean's Office - College of Health and Human Development (Administrative Analyst/Specialist Exempt I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness. Under general supervision, the Human Resource Specialist, Dean's Office - College of Health and Human Development (HHD) collaborates with the college and Human Resources, Diversity, and Inclusion (HRDI) to complete job responsibilities. Carries out assignments under the direction of the Dean, Associate Deans, Academic Resource Manager, and Lead Budget and Financial Analyst. Takes the lead in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and professional development of college staff. Serves as the Dean's Office point of contact on staff searches. Provides support to HHD Department Chairs, Department Search Committees (DSCs), and department support staff regarding HR matters such as staff, full-time lecturer, and tenure-track searches. Reviews and coordinates the approval of temporary faculty members' full-time, yearly, and semester contracts, checking for accuracy relating to weighted teaching units, pay, and entitlements. Provides support for temporary lecturers, tenured, and tenure-track faculty performance evaluation processes. Performs other HR and personnel processes. Other duties as assigned. |
Essential Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus two years of related experience. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. |
Preferred Qualifications | Previous Human Resources experience in Higher-Education. Knowledge of employment laws and practices including FLSA. Ability to understand problems from a broad, interactive perspective and discern applicable underlying principles to conceive of and develop strategic solutions applicable to HR business processes within PeopleSoft. Ability to evaluate and research personnel transactions and records, employment history, and related documents. |
