Scheduled salary increases include the following:
July 1, 2024: 6% (Salary Adjustment + Cost-of-Living Adjustment)

Annual Merit Increases: Full-time employees are eligible for 5% merit increases on an annual basis until they reach the top of their pay range.

Inspector I is the entry-level class and is flexibly staffed with the Inspector II. Typically, proficiency criteria for advancement to the Inspector II level are met within a 12-to-24-month period, depending on an individual’s experience.
Overview of Responsibilities
As an Inspector I/II, your daily duties may encompass a diverse range of tasks in both the office and the field settings.
Construction Project Inspection. Inspect complex, multi-disciplined public works and waterworks construction projects. Integrate plans, details and specifications to ensure construction and contract compliance. Prepare and conduct preconstruction meetings and constructability reviews. Participate in the change order process.
Liaison and Coordination. Acts as liaison between departments within the district, city officials, specialty inspectors, consultants and outside contractors on capital improvement, private development, and outside agency construction projects involving reservoir, pumping station, treatment plant, pipeline, water tank, and vertical construction and modification projects.
Documentation and Conflict Resolution. Develop and maintain project documentation through daily status reports; charts progress of contract schedules via scheduled project meetings. Review project plans, specifications and submittals. Resolve conflicts with contractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders. Verify completed work, certificates and compliance.
Quality Assurance. Review materials, interpret survey data to verify alignment and conduct final inspections and warranty assessments. Coordinate necessary shutdowns, whether scheduled or emergency. Prepare pipeline activation flushing and sampling plans to ensure water quality standards are met.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates for the Inspector I position will have a minimum training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school or GED equivalent and four years of experience in public works construction or equivalent.
A valid Class C California driver's license and ability to maintain insurability under the district's vehicle insurance policy.
A valid State of California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Grade 2 (D2), or ability to obtain within two years.
To be considered for the Inspector II, qualified candidates will have at least one year of entry-level inspection experience or equivalent in addition to their four years of experience in public works construction or equivalent.
