Job Abstract

Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing in the Cancer Center and guided by the policies of the Medical Center, the Cancer Center Clinical Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting the operations of the Cancer Center at Mission Bay and Mount Zion campuses and satellite clinics.
This position is responsible for assisting the Director with all aspects of the operation, including but not limited to:

• Assuring compliance with all regulatory and patient safety goals of each site
• Assisting with developing and implementing policies and procedures that require standardization across campuses and satellite clinics
• Maintains close working relationships with support service departments to ensure regulatory compliance in the clinics that meet patient safety and service standards
• Develops standardization of medical assistant activity and workflow
• Ensures compliance with standard work for medical assistants across sites
• Implements and rolls out clinic projects, including new IT software, new equipment, and new processes within UCSF, and supports other Adult Cancer Services departments on an ad hoc basis.
• Assists with the administration and management of material resources needed in the Cancer Center Clinics while maintaining budgetary compliance with the guidance of the nurse managers.

• Experience using an EMR-Epic/APEX

• Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent experience/training.
• A minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a team lead or supervisory experience in a clinical setting.
• Ambulatory care clinical experience.
• Experience with QA/The Joint Commission processes for quality improvement
• Strong policy analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
• Analytical / problem-solving skills.
• Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals/analyses.
• Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
