The Senior Director, Healthcare Economics and Insight, reporting to the Head of Finance and Business Strategy for Yale Health, is a new position accountable for developing and implementing sustainable strategies to improve health plan performance, analyzing risk, financial modeling, and oversight of Yale Health’s cost effectiveness initiatives. This role will answer key business questions, build models, analyze, and present key findings to stakeholders across the Yale community, including Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and other audiences. The position requires strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills to interpret data, build conceptual models, and shape positions on emerging pricing and access issues.

Develops business plans to optimize clinical and operational efficiency, including creating and maintaining forecast models, identifying key assumptions and returns on investment, and delineating critical financial risk and opportunity areas. 2. Oversees the design and development of analytical tools and implementation of financial models that support decision-making using scenario modeling and efficiency analyses. 3. Extracts, collects, analyzes, and interprets health utilization and financial data of various types from many sources. 4. Performs data mining and analytic functions of complex and varied healthcare data to identify cost savings opportunities. 5. Assesses and monitors key performance indicators about healthcare costs and trends. 6. Leads complex healthcare economic projects, including initiating, identifying, and completing key deliverables to meet all business objectives. 7. Develops and executes a program evaluation strategy, including incorporating study methods, analyzing complex data with statistical and visual techniques, and interpreting and presenting findings. 8. Designs complex simulations to drive the development of Yale Health’s network efficiency goals, given the geographic and adequacy constraints of the network. Working with CFO, CQO, and IT/Analytics, oversees the build of healthcare economics executive dashboard to provide visibility and access to key metrics. 9. Recommends optimal courses of action to minimize risk while supporting our long-term goals, the well-being of every member, and unique model of care. 10. Works closely with the executive team to synthesize critical insights and deliver recommendations in presentation form to include in the management decision-making processes. 11. Performs market research such as emerging medical trends, new market pressures, competitor threats, and new model redesign in value-based care. Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree and ten years of healthcare experience in financial analysis and strategic financial modeling in the healthcare setting.
