About the Job About the Job: Sandy Spring Bank is currently recruiting for a Corporate Communications Director. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Director of Marketing & Corporate Communications, and will oversee the flow of communication and information between the company and the public and ensures internal and external communications are in lockstep. This individual is responsible for developing effective messaging and communications strategies and working with all forms of media, including digital, print, social media, audio and video and more. The Director for Corporate Communications will build and manage a corporate communications program that advances the company’s priority business objectives. They will also provide communications support and counsel to the CEO, executives and senior leaders. This individual will work closely with the Director of the Division to build and maintain a newsroom approach to corporate communications. The position will be responsible for developing and overseeing an integrated editorial calendar and exercising editorial control to ensure the most relevant, compelling and consistent messages are delivered to the appropriate audiences. This individual is involved with Investor Relations communications and planning. MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES: Corporate Communications Management Develop disciplined standards and an editorial approach for managing communications across all internal and external channels. Implement routines and processes that empower the bank’s communications to be agile and scalable. Ensure quality control and adherence to regulatory requirements. Manage the corporate messaging platform and ensure it aligns with the brand, advances corporate priorities and is consistently delivered across audiences and channels. Manage a team that includes public relations, communications and community outreach. Act as a player-coach and foster a positive, collaborative and high-performance culture. Guide direct reports and agency partners to execute the invoicing, forecasting and reconciliation efforts. Collaborate with colleagues in Marketing & Corporate Communications to develop and plan the Division’s annual budget. Internal Communications and Events Develop internal communications strategies that consider a holistic view of the organization and support corporate priorities. Using creative and sophisticated communications, articulate the company’s strategic objectives, mission and culture. Manage the logistics and content for employee events, including quarterly Employee Town Halls and Senior Leadership Team Meetings. Produce events that are outcome oriented, value-add and support key business initiatives. Support internal and subsidiary partners’ communications needs and equip lines of business with tools and best practices for communicating with their teams and clients. Assess the company’s internal channels (e.g. intranet, email, AxiosHQ, Teams, Salesforce, etc.), and develop and execute a strategy to deliver relevant and targeted content. Public, Media and Investor Relations Execute public relations strategies that enhance and protect the bank’s image, demonstrate shareholder value, and showcase the bank’s people and capabilities. Identify creative opportunities for executives and senior leaders to connect with clients, COIs, community partners and employees. Work with the Office of the CEO and members of the Executive Leadership Team to prepare speeches, talking points and briefing materials for events and media opportunities. Manage requests for media interviews and speaking engagements. Serve as the lead media contact for the bank. Manage and regularly update the company’s crisis communications plans. Work with the Office of the CEO, CFO and other key stakeholders to prepare materials for the quarterly earnings cycle. Oversee the corporate giving and community relations program and ensure alignment with business objectives. Oversee the bank’s social media channels and content strategy. Stay current on industry news, as well as relevant local and national issues, and identify opportunities to respond or leverage a moment in time in a thoughtful way. Required Skills KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Position requires proactive, forward-thinking leadership skills that include the ability to take a holistic view of Sandy Spring Bank’s marketing and business development efforts. Must have a proven ability to conceptualize, develop and deploy an integrated strategic communications program. This position requires excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as project management expertise. Position requires a B.A. in English, journalism, communications, business, marketing or other related major as well as a minimum of 10 years working in a marketing or Public Relations capacity in marketing including developing communication programs and delivery strategies. Must be social media savvy with experience conducting events and engaging the public. Position requires an innovator who is comfortable diplomatically challenging the status quo. Must be forward-thinking and possess excellent communication skills to include listening, writing and speaking. Must have a passion for details. Must be creative and innovative and willing to implement best practices. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, to include the ability to successfully execute on cross-functional communications. Must have strong computer skills to include presentation, database and CRM related systems. Previous banking experience is preferred. Must be able to adapt and work in a very heavily regulated industry. Ability to prioritize tasks confidentially and handles multiple priorities required. Ability to think quickly and respond appropriately under pressure when dealing with the public and the press. Involves formulation and carrying out policy and procedures. Considerable creativity and judgment required to handle various situations. Knowledge of market required. SPECIFIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area.
