General Responsibilities: Responsible for providing coaching and support for teachers working with students with disabilities who demonstrate challenging behaviors in the school environment. Support development of FBAs and BIPs and work with school teams to implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) in the least restrictive environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Possesses the ability to coach teachers and other school staff through didactic training, modeling, and providing ongoing feedback. Demonstrates knowledge of the learning and behavioral characteristics of the students with emotional disabilities, autism, ADHD, and other related disabilities. Extensive knowledge of Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans and Positive Behavioral Support approaches. Knowledge of reinforcement strategies, antecedent interventions, teaching strategies to develop self-regulation and self-determination. Able to support inclusive practices. Possess the ability to foster collaboration between all parties. Requires sound classroom management techniques and the ability to assist in IEP development. Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for special education policy and practice. Education and Experience: Required: Bachelor's Degree in appropriate related field. Have a current (or be eligible for) a Virginia Teaching License, with an endorsement to teach in Special Education. Successful experience/background working with students who demonstrate challenging behaviors. Preferred: Specific training and experience in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, Applied Behavior Analysis, and/or Boys Town methodology. Master's Degree. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Travel to school sites throughout the County is common and periodic state or regional travel, including overnight stays is required.
