Position Overview:
As a Fitter/Welder, you will support a broadrange of activities in a dynamic, high energy production environment in thefabrication of stainless-steel car bodies for the best rail vehicles in theworld.
What you will be doing:
- Follow all safety requirements, including use ofall required personal protective equipment (PPE). Contribute to and maintainconditions that ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- Weld stainless-steel assemblies for passenger railcar bodies.
- Fit, tack, and weld component parts intosubassemblies and integrated final car bodies according to detail drawings withthe aid of jigs and fixtures and state-of-the-art welding equipment.
- Weld assemblies according to specified weldingstandards.
- Ensure all dimensions comply with drawingspecifications and tolerances.
- Repair fabrication errors according to definedrepair procedures.
- Safely use hand, power, and welding tools.
- Complete work order documentation, qualitydocuments, and accurately clock labor hours.
- Meet company standards for quality andworkmanship.
- Meet production schedule, quality requirements,and budgeted labor hours with limited supervision.
What you need to be successful:
- High school education or GED
- 3-5 years MIG welding experience with emphasison Stainless Steel or completion of accredited weld education program and 2years MIG welding experience
- General mechanical background.
- Basic English skills – ability to read andunderstand written instructions and effectively communicate verbally.
We would be impressed if you have:
- AWS certification for welding stainless steelusing GMAW 3G vertical up and 4F overhead.
- Working knowledge of GTAW welding

- Upon offer of employment, candidates will besubject to a background check and drug screen, as well as Pulmonary FunctionTest and Respirator Fit Test.

- Lift and move no more than 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision,distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and theability to focus.

- Welders are required to wear a Powered AirPurifying Respirator (PAPR), and other required protective equipment.

This position is located in Sacramento, CA.The starting hourly rate is from $21.00-$26.01. The actual wage offered maybe lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge,skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
