Job Abstract

The CGA Accountant is responsible for providing customer-oriented, value-added post-award management services to UCSF Principal Investigators, research administrators, and university partners through letter of credit management and accounting analysis of individual grants and contracts awarded by Federal, State, and private sponsors for the support of the San Francisco campus research enterprise. The CGA
Accountant applies theory and in-depth understanding of accounting and post-award management, university policies, and office procedures to independently manage the financial analysis and reporting of the campus’ research enterprise. The CGA Accountant is responsible for managing professional relationships with customers, partners and sponsors and personal workload to ensure office service levels are achieved.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

21 credit hours in Accounting
Thorough knowledge of UCSF pre- or post-award business and system processes
Knowledge of PeopleSoft finance, Oracle Cloud, or other similarly complex financial systems.

Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
3 – 5 years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, or other related field
Ability to extract, verify, and compile accounting information from multiple sources to complete work assignments.
Demonstrated ability to effectively present complex accounting and finance-related information verbally and in writing to diverse audiences * Experience in interpreting complex reports and records for internal administrators and managers
Demonstrated experience understanding complex financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and unique regulatory compliance requirements.
Advanced knowledge of common desktop/web applications.
Demonstrated experience with improving business processes and accounting policies using advanced knowledge of analytical procedures used in complex accounting
Demonstrated ability to analyze, conceptualize, and summarize accounting concepts and practices.
Demonstrated ability for continuous learning, Interpersonal Skills, problem-solving, Oral Communication, Written Communication, Compliance Management, Customer Service, Conflict Management, and Risk Management.
