Job Abstract

Provide advanced technical support to faculty, students, and staff in Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Engineering with a focus on the Sciences.

Provide technical planning and computer support for faculty, staff, and students in multi-platform (Windows, Mac, and Linux) and computationally intensive environments.

Mentor other technicians to ensure sustainable ongoing support.

Provide on-site administration and support for domain specific applications and computational hardware and software used in faculty research and instruction, including desktops, laptops, server class computers, storage arrays, and tape backup libraries in laboratory and workgroup environments.

Coordinate service with IT professionals from other units.

Prepare documentation (procedural, planning, team information, as well as end users) to support functions and projects.

Work closely with vendors and technical owners of applications to securely plan, deploy, and troubleshoot new or upgraded functions. Demonstrated Knowledge of scripting to automate tasks. Demonstrated team performance skills, customer service mindset approach, and the ability to act as a trusted advisor. 1. Responsible for the day-to-day operations, incident management, technical support, administration, maintenance, implementation, and configuration for desktop, print, wired/wireless/data/security network, specialty computing devices and related hardware and software.2. Responsible for responding to and resolving complex technical problems, providing tier 2 and tier 3 support utilizing a variety of tools and techniques.3. Assess and recommend computer hardware needs. 4. Assist with the development of KB articles and training documents.5. May oversee and lead a team of level 1 & 2 technicians. Bachelor's Degree and four years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
