POSITION DETAILS
The Fullerton School District and Personnel Commission is seeking interested individuals for a 50 hour School Bus Driver Trainee Program designed to prepare and train individuals for full licensure and certification as a qualified candidate for School Bus Driver in the State of California. If selected for the program, Bus Driver Trainees would be paid $15.50/hour for the time spent in the 50 hour training. Upon passing, the District will reimburse all fees paid for required licensure and certification (anticipated costs under $200). Failure to complete the program or to pass all necessary state testing will disqualify candidates for reimbursement. If successful in the program, Bus Driver Trainees would qualify and be considered for substitute School Bus Driver positions with the District and would also be qualified to apply for permanent School Bus Driver openings in the District.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEExperience: Bus Driver experience NOT required.
License & Certificates:
For entry into the training program:
-Valid Class A, B or C California Motor Vehicle Operator's License - held for at least one year
-Current DMV Driving Record printout (available online from the California DMV)
Other
-Initial DOT drug test (and additional random tests during the duration of training)
During the training program, trainees must obtain the following for consideration as a substitute School Bus Driver:
-Valid Class A or B Motor Vehicle Operator's license with passenger transportation, "S", and air brake endorsements
-California Special Driver Certificate valid for school bus driving
-Current DL-51 Medical Card
PROGRAM SELECTION PROCEDURES
This program is open to all interested applicants, but priority consideration will be given to any regular or substitute employees of Fullerton School District. All applicants will need to fill out an application answering all questions and including all required attachments. Final selection interviews will be conducted by the Transportation Department.
