USC’s Marshall School of Business is seeking Assistant Director of Alumni Relations to join its External Relations team. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Alumni Relations, the Assistant Director develops and promotes a wide range of opportunities to build and foster relationships with alumni, increase engagement, and deepen alumni’s affinity to the school. The position will work directly with alumni of the USC Marshall School of Business and Leventhal School of Accounting.
The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing our engagement with our alumni community. This multifaceted position involves alumni data management, communications, volunteer coordination, and event planning. This role works closely with the Senior Director to track alumni engagement, lead communications and marketing efforts, stewarding alumni into volunteer roles, and coordinate alumni events and meetings with members of the Alumni Relations team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Alumni Data Specialist:
Collaborate with the Senior Director to track and analyze alumni engagement metrics.
Maintain alumni database and generate regular reports on alumni interactions and participation.
Utilize data insights to enhance alumni outreach strategies and improve engagement efforts.
Communications & Marketing Lead:
Develop and execute communications strategies to effectively engage alumni via email, website, and social media platforms.
Manage alumni newsletters, announcements, and other communications to keep alumni informed and connected.
Oversee the maintenance and updates of alumni-related sections on the organization's website and social media channels.
Track communication engagement across emails and social media channels to increase online engagement.
Manage the alumni email inbox.
Volunteer Stewardship:
Lead the volunteer interest form management by meeting with alumni interested in volunteering and tracking that engagement on their alumni profiles.
Keep the volunteer pool engaged by sending over volunteer roles across the school.
Maintain relationships with volunteer alumni and provide ongoing support and recognition.
Develop and implement strategies to expand the volunteer network and leverage alumni expertise.
Event Specialist:
Create event pages, manage registrations, and coordinate event logistics that support the volunteer organizations and Alumni Relations team.
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful event execution and attendee satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications:
2-5 years’ proven experience in alumni relations in a higher education setting
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in the face of changing priorities and fluctuating workloads
Experience in a higher education environment, preferably in the area of business
Proficient skills in Tableau and Salesforce
Proficient skills in Marketing Cloud, Eventbrite, and Later (social media marketing tool)
Knowledge of volunteer recruitment and stewardship
Proactive follow up and follow through skills
Strong organization skills with an attention to detail
Ability to think creativity, be a self-starter and apply an entrepreneurial mindset
Passion and knowledge of higher education and business schools
Anticipated Hiring Range
The annual base salary range for this position is $78,811.40 - $89,039.36 - $101,641.08. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations."
