Scheduled salary increases include the following:- July 1, 2024: 6% (Salary Adjustment + Cost-of-Living Adjustment)
- July 1, 2025: 2 - 4% Cost-of-Living Adjustment
- Annual Merit Increases: Full-time employees are eligible for 5% merit increases on an annual basis until they reach the top of their pay range.

Utility Crew Member I: $29.05 - $37.08/hourly (Eff. 7/1/24: $30.79 - $39.30/hourly)
Utility Crew Member II: $32.03 - $40.88/hourly (Eff. 7/1/24: $33.95 - $43.33/hourly)
Utility Crew Member III: $35.32 - $45.07/hourly (Eff. 7/1/24: $37.44 - $47.77/hourly)
Placement in the job classification is dependent on your experience, skills and certification level.
Are you already certified?- Class A License: Successful candidates who possess a valid State of California Commercial Class A license at the time of application will receive a 10% initial pay increase.
- SWRCB Distribution Grades 2 - 5: Successful candidates who possess a State of California State Water Resources Control Board Distribution Grade 2 - 5 at the time of application will receive a 5% initial pay increase.

Overview of Responsibilities
As a Utility Crew Member I/II/III, your day-to-day responsibilities include hands-on work that keeps our water system running smoothly.
You will repair water mains, service lines, meters, hydrants and related facilities using map plats and GIS. Although the work is rewarding, it can be demanding. Expect long hours using shovels, bars and pneumatic tools to pothole existing utilities while also being responsible for setting up and removing traffic control devices to protect crews from street traffic.
Your work will not be limited to street-level. Our successful candidates will be comfortable working from tall heights as well as working in vaults and other confined spaces.
Our Utility Crew Members work a 9/80 Flex Schedule which means they are here Monday - Thursday, 6:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., and have every other Friday off. Working Fridays are 6:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. Utility Crew Members work flexible hours and/or extended work shifts, including weekends and holidays. This includes being required to work a rotating one-week standby shift which includes being available 24/7, weekends and holidays. Utility Crew Members may be required to work a rotating one-week duty response shift.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates for the Utility Crew Member I will have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in a construction-related field plus a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
DISTRIBUTION CERTIFICATION: The Utility Crew Member I position requires passing the State of California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade 2 (D2) test and obtaining certification within two years from the date of hire.
In order to be considered for the Utility Crew Member II/III, candidates must possess a valid State of California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Grade 2 (D2) at the time their application is submitted. Certification must be maintained while in this job classification.
CLASS A COMMERCIAL LICENSE: Candidates must be willing to obtain a valid California Class A commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement within 12 months of employment and continue to maintain insurability under the district's vehicle insurance policy.
