PURPOSE: Lead the Americas strategic sourcing team responsible for all indirect spend excluding named centrally managed categories.
JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)
- The categories within the remit of the role covers:
- Facilities Management - Management and maintenance of our company's physical facilities; this includes document management, office supplies, rent, utilities, waste management and disposal services, building maintenance and repairs, janitorial services, landscaping, security, industrial gases etc.
- Engineering Services – Related services and components, eg. R&D, Testing and Qualification etc.
- MRO - Includes spare parts, tools, operations maintenance and repairs, cleaning supplies, chemicals, safety equipment, PPE, Electrical and other consumables which are necessary to manufacture Lincoln Electric products.
- Capital Expenditures – All Capital Expenditures, supporting the acquisition, improvement, or maintenance of medium to long-term assets such as property, plant, and equipment, machinery, vehicles, material handling solutions, buildings, and other fixed assets. Surplus asset disposal services are also included.
- Other Operational Expenditure – eg. Quality Management Systems, Inspection and certification costs, environmental/remedial services, operational consultancy etc.
- Tail Spend Management
- The Sourcing Director’s primary function is to ensure the health & outlook of the supply chain; and support the business by creating procurement strategies and plans, which when executed deliver measurable value to Lincoln Electric.
- You will manage a team of sourcing specialists, who will help define and proliferate the local and regional sourcing strategies.
- You will coordinate with other Sourcing Directors adopting a global approach if applicable.
- You will define and maintain formal strategic sourcing plans.
- You will take accountability for tracking and maintenance of a record of the entire indirect spend within your region and execute measures to appropriately govern the costs related to the categories under your management.
- You will lead your regional sourcing council with representatives from key stakeholder functions, who will contribute to the creation, ratify, and proliferate the relevant strategic sourcing plan for the spend categories within your remit.
- In this role, you will partner collaboratively with all parts of the business, as well as the global procurement network, and implement procurement strategies and policies, applying a structured approach.
- In addition, this position will support tactical execution from the supply chain within your region and help maintain performance and profitability through competition.
- You will achieve your objectives by demonstrating a clear understanding of the business structure, good communications skills, a proactive, entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to multitask and coordinate with various functions.
- The Sourcing Director is responsible for ensuring an optimized supply of material and quality of service by:
- Clearly defining the supply chain in coordination with the cross-functional category stakeholders
- Aligning and leading cross-functional category teams with the various procurement strategies to be executed.
- Documenting and communicating the supply chain strategy to cross functional personnel and management.
- Early Involvement with product development projects, in coordination with R&D, to drive supply chain optimization.
- Establishing project material and services budgets using solid data to develop procurement plans.
- Creating and maintaining category plans and assuring proper execution by the tactical procurement group.
- Implementing professional sourcing processes and coordinating procurement activities to deliver optimized material and services cost and ensure supply base meets the project’s cost, delivery and quality requirements.
- Proactively driving procurement strategies - pooling, bundling, designing to cost, etc.
- Understanding the scope of supply and customer contract agreements, performing risk analysis and preparing for supplier negotiations
- Identifying supply chain risks and monitoring the market forces related to supply chain to avoid potential issues/risks.
- Coordinating with and managing various Strategic Sourcing Managers both locally and regionally for supplier negotiations to assure spending is fully optimized.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
- 10+ years of procurement experience
- Broad supply chain and Indirect procurement knowledge & experience
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft office applications
- Solid communication and listening skills.

- Ability to build trust and confidence quickly and professionally.
