Summary:
The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator is responsible for designing, managing and maintaining the emergency preparedness program for the Virtua Health system. Provide internal and external training concerning emergency management practices. Is a main point of contact with county, state, and federal emergency preparedness agencies.
Position Responsibilities:
Maintain emergency operations plan (EOP) documents and resources to be compliant with Joint Commission and CMS standards and with state and local emergency management regulations.
Facilitates training, exercises, and drills to ensure staff are competent to execute the EOP.
Coordinates the after-action meetings/reports and tracks improvement items in cooperation with the local Environment of Care committees. Co-chairs the corporate Emergency Management committee.
Support emergency operations for system wide EOP activations. Participate in local hospital EOP activations when appropriate as a subject matter expert on the EOP plans and ICS process.
Act as the main point of contact with county, state, and federal emergency preparedness agencies.
Collect information from external agencies on hazards and threats and disseminate to system leadership.
Work with finance to obtain reimbursements from FEMA for declared disasters and obtain grants to support emergency preparedness functions
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
2-5 years of emergency management experience in a healthcare or community setting.
Required Education:
High school diploma required. Associate degree in emergency management, health administration, business administration preferred.
Training/Certifications/Licensure:
IS-100, IS-200, IS 700a, IS 800b required.
