General Description: This is a professional position. The incumbent performs complex tasks in managing the CSB’s transportation program and manages the Developmental Disabilities’ division fleet.
Organization:The Transportation Supervisor reports to the Division Director of Developmental Disabilities’ Services and supervises Training Specialists (to include PRNs)
Essential Functions:
Supervises employees, performing related human resources functions and completes all necessary paperwork.
Analyzes customer trends and makes recommendations for improving transportation services.
Responds to inquiries and requests for information, and researches and resolves service issues and complaints
Coordinates all drivers’ schedules and routes.
Works with division staff concerning transportation related issues and opportunities. Maintains the fleet of vehicles including those assigned to the programs within the division and is the assigned point of contact to General Services/Fleet Division Services.
Manages contracts and completes monthly reports and assures all documentation is sufficient for proper billing.
Coordinates PRN staff to cover routes as needed.
Develops all transportation-related policies and procedures, and ensures programs and services are compliant with federal and state regulations.
Acts as liaison to the division for all internal and external providers/stakeholders/riders, managing and coordinating the provision of services.
Provides back-up coverage as necessary for clients to employment and employment-related events.
Analyzes road conditions and advises programs of any concerns affecting safe transportation.
Performs related work as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of safety regulations and laws pertaining to vehicle operations, and exercises sound judgement in emergency situations. Ability to interpret and apply local, federal and state laws, regulations and requirements related to transit programs. Familiarity with programs and services for consumers being served. Must have solid understanding of personal computer and related software and other office equipment. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Case management and training skills, required. Must be able to establish effective working relationships with consumers and their families, staff, Board members, and community groups/businesses.
Education, Experience and Training: High school diploma or equivalent required with a minimum of four (4) years’ progressively responsible experience in related field, two (2) of which must have been in a supervisory position – OR – Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
