This recruitment will be used to fill a vacancy within our prevention department and will establish an eligibility list for our Fire Cadet assigned specifically to our prevention department.

This is a part-time entry-level work-training program for those interested in a fire service prevention career. The fire cadets perform support functions primarily centered on fire prevention and emergency management.

Knowledge & Education
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Current CPR Certification at the "professional rescuer" or "healthcare provider" level.
Candidates with a Fire Inspector 1A or 1B are highly desirable.
Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Candidates must possess a valid Class C California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability.
Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent Resident Alien meeting the requirements of Government Code Section 1031 (A) and 1031.5.
Certifications and resume must be attached to your application in order to receive full consideration. Candidates that do not follow this requirement will be disqualified from this recruitment process.

The closing date may also be extended, or the job may be re-posted if an insufficient number of applications is received during the initial posting period. Candidates that successfully pass the screening process and are deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications may be invited to the in-person oral interviews tentatively scheduled for Thursday, July 18, 2024. The top scoring candidates from the oral interview will be placed on an eligibility list from which the department may hire. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background check including livescan and pass a pre-employment medical examination (which will include a drug/alcohol screening).
