Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent fabricating.
Studies drawings, specifications and sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of what will be the finished work piece.
Fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machining ability of materials, and layout techniques.
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications, dimensions and alignment of assembly.
Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plates, hand tools, and power tools.
Installs machined replacement parts into mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and performs tests to ensure functionality and performance.
Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, and others to resolve machining and assembly problems
Level 1:Operate basic shop equipment (band saw, grinders, drill press, etc.). Load, remove, and perform basic editing, as needed, of CNC programs. Set-up machine tools per instructions. Read and interpret detailed setup sheets, blueprints, and part drawings. Using measuring equipment, verify work performed is to part print or company standards of acceptability. Maintain a safe and clean work area. Work overtime as required by work load and company demand. Record daily work performed. Works with supervision. Works under moderate supervision.
Qualifications
POSITION SUMMARY
Education & Experience:Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school): Required. Three to five years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Intermediate to Advanced Excel. Ability to learn new software applications as needed. Ability to type 40+ WPM. Proficient with ten key operation. Ability to pass an Intermediate Excel skills test.
