This position will be based in our HQ located in Ashburn, VA on a Hybrid/Remote schedule

The Technical Writer is the source for all technical documentation produced by the Engineering team.  Researching, compiling, organizing and producing installation notes, guides and other technical documentation, the tech writer will provide consistent, repeatable quality to all engineering documents produced by the project. 

?Responsibilities:

• Work with subject-matter experts on the engineering team to collect and document technical information, develop and deliver test reports, ECPs (Engineering Change Proposals) and other custom documentation as required.
• ?Review existing and develop new technical materials detailing components and solutions supporting projects to be used for training materials, installation, and hardware guides.
• Develop a detailed understanding of technical architectures, products, and solution sets.
• Translate complex information into professional document content for distribution to the field – i.e., installation instructions and hardware guides.
• ?Participate in meetings with vendors to understand/evaluate/investigate new products and technologies.
• ?Support the delivery and achievement of metrics, regular reports, and other deliverables to the client.
• Develop and maintain a library of reference materials, including vendor information, market research, evaluations, technical specifications, and other tech info.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 1-2 years of technical writing experience, or the equivalent experience of education and experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels is required.
• Experience in working with engineers to create visuals and diagrams for technical content.
• A professional attitude regarding attention to detail and customer service.
• Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
• The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to access sensitive information, which requires US citizenship.

Preferred skills:

• HTML editing tools
• Microsoft Visio, Project, Word, and PowerPoint
• Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, Photoshop
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or IT field
