Incumbent is responsible for helping manage the overall credit administration function and the daily administration of the bank’s credit activities by assisting and supporting the Chief Credit Officer. Supports the Chief Credit Officer in the preparation of monthly credit reports, data review and board reports. Helps identify emerging weaknesses in the loan portfolio through the preparation and/or review of problem loan reports, covenant compliance reports, and annual CRE reviews.
Ensures compliance within all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage conventional and SBA credit managers and underwriting staff
- Review and evaluate proposed new and renewal extensions of credit for commercial borrowers paying particular attention to the quality and analysis of the credit presented
- Serve as the primary point of quality control on credit underwriting ensuring that the underwriting process is efficient and effective
- Develop through a collaborative effort with loan officers, alternative strategies to address complex or difficult credit situations
- Maintain, update, and review the Loan Policy and provide periodic memorandums for board review and approval
- Review and help prepare quarterly watch and problem loan reports
- Review and help prepare loan portfolio management reports including past due, loan policy exceptions, and industry concentrations
- Help perform portfolio-level analytics and stress testing to identify risks within the loan portfolio including industry, concentration, and market risks
- Work with Construction Loan Management to help identify projects that have been delayed, have incurred notable change orders, and/or have had mechanic liens recorded
- Provide day-to-day assistance, guidance, or additional detailed to Executive Management across a broad spectrum of credit issues
- Assist and support the Chief Credit Officer for external credit reviews and regulatory examinations
- Assist with Special Assets, liquidations, and ORE property as needed
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations with respect to the loan portfolio
- Act as secretary for Director Loan Committee and accordingly prepare minutes
- Minimum of 10 hours CRA volunteer hours per year. Volunteer hours are typically scheduled within business hours. This is compensable time and mileage is reimbursed

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisory responsibilities include the Conventional and SBA Credit Managers and respective staffs. Incumbent is expected to provide performance management, mentoring and training support.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
- Minimum 10-years’ experience with a focus in one or more of the following areas: Credit Risk Management, Credit Administration, Loan Work and Commercial Real Estate & Business loan underwriting experience
- Minimum 5 to 7 years supervisory experience
- Strategic thinker capable of analyzing information/processes to determine overall trends and provide appropriate conclusions and recommendations
- Excellent knowledge of credit risk management, industry trends, and applicable federal and state banking regulations
- Proficient in the following software applications: MS Word, Excel, Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment:
The incumbent in the course of performing this position frequently spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, operating basic business equipment, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, walking, standing, reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, client contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and frequent interruptions. The incumbent for this position will occasionally lift up to 15 pounds, pull, squat, kneel and reach. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which they are free to move about at will. The work environment is typically quiet to a moderate noise level.
Travel: There will be occasional local, out-of-area, and overnight travel.
