Job Description
The Senior Estimator - Top Commercial GC - NoVA will be responsible for:
Working in collaboration with the Estimating team to provide competitive project estimates and win proposals, while partnering with the operations team to complete an effective internal hand off
Mentoring and training junior estimating staff
Handling multiple projects from time of RFP to bid submission
Performing thorough and accurate take-offs
Creating scopes of work to distribute to subcontractors
Qualifying sub bids with care to ensure scope of work required is covered within bid
Inputting data into bid forms, create detailed qualifications, and assemble bid packages
Creating and fostering relationships with subcontractors and vendors
Managing the RFP process, ensuring maximum coverage in all trades
Tracking of RFPs and bids
Ensuring detailed & efficient Hand-off of awarded projects to operations
Preparing for and attend bid review meeting
Coordinating with accounting and project management to estimate fees, overhead, and profit
Building strong relationships with potential clients, subcontractors, and vendors

The Successful Applicant
The Senior Estimator - Top Commercial GC - NoVA will have:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
+/- 8-15 years of estimating experience with a general contractor(s)
Ability to perform conceptual, schematic, and design development budgets, detailed cost estimates, and deliver quantity take-offs in partnership with the project management and field operations team
Experience with commercial new construction, renovations, and tenant fit-out projects. Project values can range from $500k - $50M or higher
Proven track record of successfully negotiating with subcontractors to ascertain best pricing
Excellent understanding of reading blueprints and specifications
Demonstrated history of leading and mentoring more junior staff members
Well versed in excel and MS Office programs
Keen attention to detail
Ability to cultivate strong relationships with owners, vendors, architects, subcontractors, and internal staff
