The Director of Performance Improvement/Risk Management - Behavioral Health will be responsible for the monitoring, implementation, and development of the patient/staff safety risk management program. In addition, this position will drive facility continuous performance improvement projects, the monitoring of quality and clinical KPI's and is an active member of the leadership team. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer
Responsibilities
Assists in the education, management, and administration of facility emergency preparedness programs/trainings.
Assess facility procedures/processes and make recommendations to minimize health and safety risks or issues and coordinates communication to facility personnel on Emergency Management or Safety Notifications.
Coordinate safety activities alongside Safety Officer or act as alternate in event of Safety Officer is not present.
Develops documentation and training plans on emergency management/preparedness and risk management.
Is available for on-call response during emergencies to perform emergency management functions and related duties.
Review and evaluation of data concerning incident reports; provides trends to facility leadership.
Conducts risk and emergency management assessments to enhance patient and employee safety.
Develop and implement training modules and supporting materials for Crisis Prevention.
Coordinate and operate as needed with the security contracted company and other staff to establish secure safety measures on company grounds.
Identifies potential areas of risk; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
Responsible for the development and ongoing monitoring of Company policies and procedures in collaboration with personnel from all facility departments.
Participate in department initiatives and project plans and assist with updates/progress toward completion.
Drives performance improvement projects and monitor facility KPI's
Provide guidance, as needed, to department staff and field staff for emergent issues, business continuity, and crisis management.
Directs and guides the development, revision and implementation of company and state specific policies, procedures, protocols, and forms, including regular review and monitoring of the approval process.
Conducts onsite and telephonic internal sentinel event investigations, as requested.
Acts in the best interest of the company, its facilities, and its patients.
Complies with organizational policies, procedures, performance improvement initiatives and maintains organizational and industry policies/practices regarding confidentiality.
Communicates clearly and effectively to the CEO, COO, and Quality Management Team regarding person(s) receiving services and their family members, guests, and other members of the health care team.

This is a full-time position that will work 100% onsite Monday – Friday at our substance use and mental health treatment facility in Del Mar, CA.
Qualifications
A minimum of five years of experience in the field of behavioral health and/or substance use disorder experience are required.
5-10 years of experience in a behavioral healthcare and risk management role required.
Required bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health, business or a related field or equivalent work experience.
Preferred master's degree in the social services field, business or equivalent work experience.
Clinical background preferred
Licensed behavioral therapist or nurse preferred
Has working knowledge of Federal and State rules and regulations related to behavioral health.
Is familiar with Joint Commission standards.
Experience in developing and implementing training, performance improvement projects and monitoring of KPI's.
