Kelly is seeking a Buyer to work with our premier client, a growing manufacturing company, on a direct hire basis.
The Buyer will:
Review requisition orders (RO) and confer with requesting department(s) regarding requirements, specifications, quantity, quality, and delivery dates
Assure that purchase requisitions are fully authorized and place purchase orders in accordance with all department regulations and procedures
Provide sourcing recommendations to requisitioners as requested
Procure routine/standard items (COTs) and services of specific commodity groups
Assist in the investigation and interviewing of new suppliers as possible sources
Follow up on order status with suppliers and expedite as required.
Maintain accurate delivery date information in the purchasing database and communicate delivery information to internal end users
Handle adjustments with vendors involving replacement of non-conforming materials to purchase specifications
Process Good Receipts (GR) per company policy
Assure that all purchasing records are maintained in accordance with company policies and procedures
Support new business development by providing quotations/estimates to the material cost estimating department as requested
Support department goals for minimum vendor delinquencies, timely purchase requisition placement, and timely processing of rejections and cost-estimating proposals
Participate in total quality management and continuous process improvement efforts
Keep informed of current and developing market conditions
Develop a thorough knowledge of business systems and tools associated with the role, including SAP
Qualifications:
Two-year degree or equivalent in materials management, business administration or closely related discipline
1+ year(s) of experience in buying/purchasing
Ability to evaluate quotations against specifications and to effectively negotiate and communicate with vendors
Basic computer skills including the ability to perform word processing and utilize computer spreadsheet programs
Must be able to manage and prioritize many assignments simultaneously and work under deadlines
