Responsibilities
The Assistant Vice President will operate as the payroll team lead and supervisor to four direct reports. This position will work closely and be supported by Oaktree’s external service providers, as well as other Oaktree teams in HR, tax, accounting, IT, and legal.
Additional responsibilities include:
• Overseeing day-to-day team activities and overseeing development, coaching as needed;
• Overseeing and helping troubleshoot U.S. settlement process;
• Approving non-US payroll changes and providing backup coverage for monthly payroll change submission, auditing payroll reports, and preparing monthly wire instruction memos;
• Overseeing quarter-end and year-end payroll tax reporting processes and amendments;
• Leading new payroll set ups, system configuration within Workday, and integration implementation and testing;
• Leading and project managing process improvement and system update efforts;
• Liaising with Corporate Bank team, payroll providers, and the bank with new bank account payment testing;
• Managing vendor relationships and first point of contact for escalation;
• Liasing with HR on annual compensation process and overseeing bonus accrual reconciliation, payroll tax forecasts, and data import into Workday;
• Liasing with Voluntary Disability Insurance plan administrator and Benefits team on leave cases, reconciling claim and service fee invoices, and arranging payments;
• Reviewing leave of absence pay calculations;
• Partnering with Tax, HR, and external tax advisors with global mobility and short-term business traveler policies and new tax jurisdiction registrations;
• Ensuring SOX compliance for the payroll process and reviewing audit documents prior to submission;
• Ensuring compliance with local and national laws;
• Reviewing and/or preparing periodic financial reports for Corporate Accounting and Tax related to wage and tax reporting, foreign funding estimates, audit reconciliations, international office audits, etc.;
• Reconciling payroll tax refund checks;
• Maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
• Assisting with time-off request and time tracking inquiries, approvals, and troubleshooting;
• Liaising with corporate relocation firm to process relocation expense reports through payroll for tax purposes;
• Assisting with daily management of payroll inbox;
• Responding to employment verification requests; and
• Writing and updating standard operating procedures.
Experience
• Minimum five years of payroll experience within a professional firm;
• Experience with Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence preferred;
• Experience with ADP Celergo a plus;
• Experience with quarter-end payroll tax reconciliation and reporting a plus;
• Accounting and multi-jurisdictional tax knowledge a plus;
• Proven ability to manage tasks with competing priorities and deadlines, independently determining order of priority and self-initiating other value-added tasks; and
• Proficient in Excel and Word

Education

Base Salary Range
$130,000 - $155,000
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
