Requirements / Qualifications
SUBSTITUTE: There is a high demand for substitutes throughout the school year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Special Education Assistant IV-SH/PH
Two years of paid or volunteer experience working with school-age children in an organized setting, including at least one-year experience working with severely
handicapped students. Training or course work in subject areas pertaining to the
severely and physically handicapped and seriously emotionally disturbed
population and/or special education technology is highly desirable.
Instructional Assistant-Behavioral Intervention
Two years of paid or volunteer experience working with children in an organized setting; experience working with autistic students and in applied behavioral analysis is highly desirable.
Under current State and Federal Law, requirements include proof of a high school diploma or its equivalent to be submitted with completed application and meet one of the 3 requirements: A) Completion of 2 years of study (48 semester units) at an institution of higher learning, or B) an Associate's Degree or higher, or C) pass a rigorous District-administered assessment that demonstrates the knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing and math.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Subject to lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 40 lbs. School health environment; subject to exposure to communicable or infectious diseases, emergency medical situations; potential for contact with impulsive, frustrated and agitated students who may demonstrate aggressive behaviors.
CERTIFICATES: Valid First Aid and CPR certificates (NO ONLINE CPR CERTIFICATE WILL BE ACCEPTED). Must attach with your application. Failure to attach the required documents by the deadline date will result in an incomplete application.

OPEN CONTINUOUSLY-Open to all qualified candidates with the selection process resulting in an Eligibility List that will be used to fill current vacancies, provide substitutes and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year.
SPECIAL INFORMATION: Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a drug test, TB test, fingerprinting and physical exam. The physical and drug screen are paid by the District. The candidate's portion of the fingerprinting fee is $40.00.
