Widener University is currently seeking an Assistant Director of Admissions in the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies Admissions. Reporting to the Executive Director of Admissions and Enrollment, this role provides support to prospective graduate, adult and online learners.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential duties:
- Write new communication flows across all stages of the recruitment funnel. Assess effectiveness of existing communication flows and re-write as needed.
- Serve as liaison with and meet regularly with the University Relations marketing team to maximize university brand and stay current of all university marketing stories.
- Develop a strategic event/visit plan to engage prospective graduate, adult and online students for both campus and virtual events.
- Design and manage prospective student visit calendars to include admissions interviews, class visit days, campus tours and virtual visits.
- Provide guidance to prospective students regarding Graduate and Continuing Studies program admission and enrollment service processes.
- Facilitate conversion of incomplete applicants to complete, including email and phone communication where appropriate.
- Implement strategies to move individuals through the admissions and initial enrollment process, moving prospects to applicants, applicants to completion and admission, and admission to initial enrollment.
- Answer routine inquiries from prospective students regarding admissions and questions regarding the University’s enrollment services processes.
- Facilitate admission review process, including interview scheduling, interview day coordination, updating review/interview rubrics, and faculty review of applications.
- Consult with Graduate Program Directors regarding applicant questions, concerns and challenges.
- Facilitate contact between Graduate Program Directors and prospects, applicants and admitted students as appropriate.
- Provide training for faculty and other reviewers on CRM and CAS systems
- Update application and admission information on university web sites.
- Enter application information into Slate CRM and CAS systems, including direct data entry, scanning of documents and communication uploads.
- Communicate with admitted students for deposit, onboarding and initial registration processes using CRM with additional follow up as needed.
- Communicate with Enrollment Services about issues related to student admission and enrollment.
- Work extensively with Assistant Directors of Recruitment and Outreach for enrollment growth and retention strategies and other initiatives that align with unit strategic direction.
Secondary responsibilities:
- Work with Associate Director to develop best in-class onboarding and retention experience for prospective and current students.
- Conduct ongoing registration outreach to new graduate and continuing studies students.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned or directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1-2 years of experience in communications, event, enrollment, online program management or related experience
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems
- Proven ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external constituents
- Ability to manage multiple projects and plan effectively
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Must understand FERPA and confidentiality requirements
Preferred:
- Demonstrated experience in Canvas LMS
- Experience in university admissions
- Knowledge of accreditation standards related to admissions for human services and mental health fields (i.e. CSWE, CACREP, APA etc.)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:
- Usual office environment; heavy walk-in traffic; high level of interaction with others in person electronically or via telephone.
- Ability to be mobile between workstation and various campus buildings
- Ability to travel within a 100 mile radius. No overnight travel required. Limited travel.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Occasional evening/weekend work may be required.
