Program Administrator - Department of Computer Science - Georgetown University College of Arts & Sciences

Job Overview

The Program Administrator - in a one-year, renewable, term role - provides administrative and budget management support for the Computer Science Department within the College of Arts & Sciences at Georgetown University.

They provide dedicated support to designated faculty and projects (including for the Privacy and Cryptography Lab), as well as general administrative support to the department’s operations and students; and support the execution of department programs, internal and external events, conferences, and research projects for faculty and PhD students.

The Privacy and Cryptography Lab project management includes but is not limited to pre-grant support and post-award support through collaboration with colleagues in the Joint Office of Research Administration; facilitation of hiring processes and budget management; organization of conferences, meetings and travel; and reimbursement processing, supporting visitors, managing calendars.

The Program Administrator monitors project progress and deadlines and supports faculty in coordinating and preparing required reports. Importantly, they serve as the liaison between the project members and funders and support the scholarly and collegial relationships within the groups.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the Department Chair, the Program Administrator works closely with the lead administrator to complete their work. As well, they interact frequently with faculty, students and guests of the department, and liaise with vendors and colleagues throughout the university - e.g., Dean’s Office, Provost’s Office units including Faculty Affairs and the Joint Office of Research Administration, Office of the Chief Financial Officer, and Human Resources.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least 3 years of progressive work experience in administrative and financial operations
• Demonstrated skill in administrative management and operations - preference for experience in higher education institutions
• Understanding and knowledge of current software and financial management tools
• Ability to learn quickly, be resourceful and work well on a team
• Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word and Excel
• Ability to learn to use different content management systems such as Google web forms, and web content management systems
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Skilled and successful at prioritizing work and multi-tasking to meet deadlines 

Preferred Qualification

Experience with CourseLeaf, Cognos and Workday (Georgetown Management System)
