? Install, modify, service and repair a wide variety of complex electrical wiring and circuitry, equipment and apparatus associated with intricate hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems and with complicated interacting components and subsystems.
Typical Responsibilities
? Work from complicated drawings, service manuals, sketches, schematic diagrams, or general oral instructions and rough sketches to plan and lay out involved work and install, modify, service and repair complex equipment with intricate interlocks, relays, VFD’s interacting components, subsystems.
? Prepare sketches and make accurate calculations to determine line load required to operate equipment or apparatus being installed, and number, size and load limit required of transformers, fuses, circuit breakers, switches, and other equipment to assure safe efficient operation.
? Plan and prepare work estimates for various electrical projects, including labor hours and material requirements where materials include various special (non-standard) applications.
? Monitor for quality and maintainability of electrical work projects performed by contractors; assist building planning and construction group in developing punch lists of contracted electrical work prior to final sign-off and acceptance.
? Set up, locate, arrange, and group various switches, cabinets, indicators, meters, warning devices, and conduits to promote safety, convenience, and economic use of materials.
? Rewire circuits to incorporate changes and make changes to master drawings for future reference.
? Diagnose and evaluate malfunctions from equipment operation or performance and test readings.
? Determine best method of making repairs or changes and devise temporary hookups when needed to minimize interruptions and avoid shutdowns.
? Use test instruments to trace circuits, check values with a multimeter at various points and other operating parameters. Working knowledge of an IR camera
? Notify other service groups if trouble is in non-electric systems.
? Check to insure all electrical systems, controls and safety devices are functioning properly before leaving area.
? Work with and instruct other Electricians as assigned, in various aspects of electrical installation, service and repair work.
? Periodically check operation and condition of various power distribution systems.
? Perform electrical preventive maintenance work on equipment and systems as required.
? Refer unusual difficulties to Supervisor or Working Leader.
? Fill in forms and complete other records associated with work performed.
? When emergency or unusual conditions arise in operations of maintenance department, or at request of Supervisor, may be assigned other maintenance duties usually of a less skilled nature.
? Perform operator checklist as required.
? Contribute to the overall effectiveness of equipment by performing operator required upkeep.
? Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to environmental health and life safety.
? Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
