Job Abstract

Kelly is hiring a Senior Research Associate for a Plant Biotechnology company in San Diego. This position will be responsible for molecular discovery of next generation gene edited crops. This is a direct hire role, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities: 

• Work independently to plan and execute molecular cloning experiments. 
  

• Run molecular testing such as DNA/RNA manipulations, PCR, qPCR, western blotting and cloning.
  

• Assist with the discovery of next generation gene edited crop traits such as sustainability, plant diseases and oil quality. 
  

• Run gene expression and functional characterization assays in microbe and plant systems. 
  

• Work cross functionally with teams to aid in uncovering and validating new gene editing targets. 
  

• Communicate updates via reports and team meetings. 

Requirements: 

• BS in Molecular Biology, Plant Biology/Pathology or similar field. 
  

  • 3+ years of experience
    

  
  

• MS in Molecular Biology, Plant Biology/Pathology or similar field. 
  

  • 1+ years of experience 
    

  
  

• Knowledgeable of molecular biology technologies: cloning, DNA/RNA manipulations, PCR, western blotting, etc. 
  

• Knowledgeable of analytical chemistry methodologies such as HPLC and GC is beneficial. 
  

• Proactive and Communicative to ensure effective experimentation.
