Job Summary
BMA is seeking an Operational T&E Engineer that will be responsible for the maintenance, improvement, cleaning, and manipulation of data in the business's operational and analytics databases. This individual will work with software engineers, data analytics teams, data scientists, and data warehouse engineers in order to understand and aid in the implementation of database requirements, analyze performance, and troubleshoot any existent issues. The Data Engineer has to be an expert in database development further providing support to the Data and Analytics in database design, data flow and analysis activities. This position also plays a key role in the development and deployment of innovative big data platforms for the advances analytrics and data processing. The Data Engineer defines and builds the datra popelines that will enable faster, better, data-informed decision-making within the business. Data Engineers work across multiple data centers and AWS regions.
Duties:
- Required to draft regular performance and progress reports and prepare presentation for senior data engineering management and senior data science leadership.
- Will work closely with data scientists and are largely in charge of a architecting solutions for data scientists that enable them to do their jobs.
- Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS "big data" technologies.
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
- Train and mentor other personnel for operational maintenance.
Clearance Requirements
There is a Top-Secret clearance requirement for this position.
Required Skills & Certifications
- Master's Degree with 7-10 years' experience related to software engineer and/or military experience.
- Applicable degrees are Information Technology, Information Systems, Applied Math, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- Experience with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
- Experience with SQL, Oracle, NoSQL, Mongo
- Experience with SQL Server, MySQL, Redshift, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, AWS Cloud Services, Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka
- Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools
